In a certain forest lived a jackal named Chandraka. One day, while searching for food, he wandered into a village, where the local dogs spotted him and gave chase, barking furiously. Terrified, the jackal ran for his life.

In his desperate flight, he stumbled into a dyer's house, where a large vat of blue dye sat waiting. The jackal fell straight into it and emerged completely dyed blue from head to tail. The strange color and unfamiliar smell frightened the dogs away.

When the jackal returned to the forest, all the other animals were astonished and frightened by his strange blue color. They assumed he must be some rare and powerful creature. The clever jackal decided to seize this opportunity.

He announced to the animals, "Lord Brahma himself has sent me to be the king of this forest. From now on, you are all my subjects." The frightened animals believed him and accepted him as their king. Even the lion, the tiger, and the elephant submitted to him and began serving him.

The Blue Jackal became king and demanded fine meals delivered to him every day by the other animals. But he kept his own kind, the jackals, at a careful distance, fearing they would recognize him and expose his true identity.

One night, all the jackals of the forest gathered and began howling together in their usual way. Hearing this familiar sound, the old instinct stirred within the Blue Jackal too. He couldn't help himself, and he joined in, howling along with his fellow jackals.

The other animals immediately realized that their "Blue King" was nothing more than an ordinary jackal who had deceived them all along. Furious, they turned on him, and the jackal barely escaped with his life, fleeing deep into the forest.

Moral: One's true nature can never truly be changed, and any success built upon deceit will eventually be exposed.
