The Lion and the Mouse
A powerful lion and a tiny mouse form an unlikely friendship that proves no one is ever too small to matter.
In a dense forest lived a mighty lion. One day, he was resting peacefully under a tree when a small mouse, playing nearby, wandered over and, without realizing what he was doing, began scampering across the sleeping lion's body.
The lion woke up instantly and, furious, snapped the mouse up in his massive paw. "How dare you wake me!" he roared. "I will eat you for this!"
The terrified little mouse begged for mercy. "Please, Your Majesty, forgive me. I didn't realize you were sleeping here. Spare my life, and I promise that one day, I will repay you for your kindness."
The lion burst out laughing at the thought. "How could such a tiny creature ever help me?" Still, he felt a flicker of pity for the helpless little mouse and let him go free.
Some days later, that very same lion was caught in a hunter's net. He struggled with all his might, but the thick ropes held firm, and he could not break free. In pain and frustration, he let out a desperate roar.
Hearing the roar, the little mouse came running and found the lion trapped in the net. He remembered his promise at once. Without wasting a single moment, he began gnawing through the ropes with his sharp little teeth.
Within a short while, the mouse had chewed through every rope, and the lion was finally free. The lion was astonished and deeply grateful. "Forgive me," he said, "for thinking you too small and weak to matter. Today you saved my life. You truly are my dearest friend."
Moral: No creature is ever too small or insignificant. Kindness is always repaid, and true friendship knows no measure of size or strength.
